Erin Agricultural SocietyPresident’s Message
Thanksgiving Weekend Tradition
On behalf of the Erin Agricultural Society, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the 169th Erin Fair. Agriculture continues to be a huge part of our local area. In fact, Wellington County has over 2,500 farms and employment in agriculture accounts for close to 6,000 jobs. The Erin Fair is a wonderful opportunity to share and promote our farms, our livestock, our crops and our community.
For many of you, the Erin Fair is part of your family’s Thanksgiving Weekend tradition – it is always a great place to see familiar faces and to catch-up on what you and your family have been doing over the past year.
I am always amazed at how far people travel (year after year) to visit our Fair. Whether as an exhibitor, an entertainer, a vendor, a participant, a volunteer or simply a visitor – we would like to welcome you back and thank you for returning. Your participation in and enthusiasm for the Erin Fair is infectious. It serves as reminder of why this event is so important and why our directors and volunteers commit so much time and energy to host the Erin Fair every year.
Exciting Changes This Year
For those of you who are visiting the Erin Fair for the first time – welcome! We hope you enjoy your time here and that this year marks the start of a new family tradition for you! While you are at the Erin Fair, we hope you take in our numerous attractions, visit the midway, meet some farm animals, learn a new farm fact in our Ag Awareness tent, watch a show and, of course, eat an apple dumpling or two!
I am pleased to share two exciting changes for Fair visitors this year. We have erected a tented, outdoor entertainment venue (Festival Gardens) that will allow us to seat up to 1,000 people and our entertainment committee has worked very hard to book a variety of acts that will keep you entertained throughout the day and well into the evening. Check on this website for a complete list of our exciting line-up.
We would also like to encourage our younger guests and their families to visit our much larger petting farm, just to your right as you enter the main gates. In this exciting new space, children have the opportunity to get up close and personal with farm animals and take a pony ride – we hope you take advantage of this opportunity to visit our furry and feathered friends.
On behalf of the many volunteers, who work countless hours, throughout the year, to make sure that the grounds are ready, the hall is welcoming and the Fair runs successfully, I welcome you to the 2019 Erin Fall Fair.
